BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT? Buyer beware!! I went to this salon while staying on St. Martin for our 15th wedding anniversary. (I'm no stranger to salon services - I'm an Esthetician with 20+ years experience and have worked in many salons). I'm a regular Brazilian Blowout client, usually receiving them three times a year. Every two months I get a trim and my roots highlighted. Healthy hair. While on vacation, my hair was overdue (and being my anniversary + to treat myself) I scheduled with this highly rated salon for a "Brazilian" straightening treatment. They use Kerastase, which is a high-end line. My straightening treatments in the States are usually 1 1/2 to 2 hrs max, and their website said $100 per hr. Sounded about right, however when I got there I was told around 3 hours if I wanted a stellar job. OK. They are super nice and the salon had a great environment so I said sure, why not? I was assured that I was receiving the same treatment as a Brazilian Blowout (keratin treatment) and with what I saw product wise I felt I was receiving a quality product application. Red flag #1: owner kept coming by to consult with my young (although nice) stylist. #2 it took FOREVER and the process was not the same as a BB. A lot of combing out knots of hair - all the while being told the product wasn't fully absorbed until he could comb through without knots. It hurt. #3 my husband dropped me off and was to pick me up at the 3 hr mark. He was over an hour late (due to a car accident) and the stylist was moving so VERY slow.. until my husband arrived. Funny how fast he finished my hair. I was charged for 4 1/2 hours ($450 not counting $50 tip - which I regret allowing myself feel obligated to leave) and told not to wash for at least two days. My hair looked smooth when I walked out and I followed exact instructions and did not wash my hair until three days later when I arrived back in the States. I used my BB shampoo and conditioner (no sulfates, was told this would be fine to use). UGH! My hair is a mated mess, dry, and a damaged fuzz ball. It isn't remotely the silky smooth finish you get with BB and I had to work out serious knots after the first wash. I'm so sick about it. Needless to say, I will have to get a cut and grow some of this damage off before anymore treatments. Please be aware this appears to be a $$ maker for them.. with little experience doing it. If they say they're experienced or trained, make sure that's the technician you get because I was used as a training guinea pig.
